Welcome to the new home for graduates and parents of the Lockport Township High School Band! This web site is dedicated to former students and band parents, and is intended to serve as a informational link for friends to stay in touch as well as to provide a source of information that may be of interest to band alumni.

As you check out the website, please keep in mind that this site is intended to be more than a place where you simply visit once and then never return. The photo gallery is set up as an area where all alumni can share their snapshots, not only from yesteryear but from current events as well. Please feel free to send in your own pictures and suggestions for events as it costs nothing other than a bit of your time.

Hello Alumni!

I am thrilled to be talking with you again about the LTHS Band Alumni Association. I hope you all are doing well, and for us in Chicago land area, it’s nice to see some hopeful weather again. Our 4 Stage creation process has been set up to reach challenging but realistic goals. This report will 1) take care of some housekeeping matters, 2) explain and review Stage 2 of this creation process, and 3) explain Stage 3. This association is built by alumni for alumni. As of today, our roster has many names but lacks key elements required for an alumni association.

1a) Please send an email or Facebook message to Daniel Clark (President) or Michael Beck (Secretary) with:
A. Your Name
B. Year of High School Graduation
C. Main Instrument in High School
D. Email Address (or home address if you would like mailings to your home)
E. Current University, Latest University, or Current Job (just to have an idea where everyone is now a days)
F. If you are interested in getting more involved within the association. There are always lots of things to do, and your help is greatly appreciated. (See Introduction of Committees and Chairs on the Facebook Discussion Board. If you are not on Facebook, let me know and I will send you Facebook discussions).
G. Any questions comments, comments, or concerns you may have regarding the association. We encourage, and welcome, all input!

1b) We are working with the Band Booster Organization in holding our funds as we gather membership donations. Please look at The Costs of Creating an Alumni Association on the Facebook Discussion Board to see where the money will go. To be a member in good standing, the annual membership donation must be submitted in a timely fashion. Members in good standing are eligible to attend alumni events, receive newsletters, and receive other alumni benefits.

Basically, the focus is supporting students of the band program to continue producing outstanding music by providing scholarships, networking, and support for program. Your membership donation will help the band program directly while also keeping you informed with alumni news and provide ways to keep you connected with LTHS and music.

Because the association will be official June 1, membership donations for the 2009-2010 year will be required during the months of May/ June.

2) Stage 2 was focused on outreach. WE HAVE EXCEEDED OUR GOAL OF GAINING THE INTEREST OF 200 ALUMNI. Our current records have the names of 202 individuals. This is a great success, and it is great to see so many enthused alumni. To build upon the list we have created, please reply with your contact information as described in 1a. Of course, outreach is not over until everyone is informed. This is why Stage 3 continues working on growing upon membership.

3a) Stage 3 is focused on building foundation and structure within the association. During the next two months, the association will invite those interested to join committees: newsletter, finance, scholarship, etc. In addition, standing chairs will have specific responsibilities in maintaining administration and serving members. These will consist of an Executive Director, Student Representative Chair, and Event Chair.

3b) Because of the wide spread of all alumni, webpage usage is a must. Facebook is a good start, but that can only go so far. If you are computer savvy and have experience with creating web pages, we would love your help!

3c) From the information we have received, our alumni base spans over 6 decades. That amount of people requires a lot of cross generational communication. We would like a representative from each graduating class to take responsibility with following their class’s involvement within the association. This would be a great way to reunite each graduating class in addition to keeping the association organized.

3d) MARK YOUR CALENDARS! Thursday, May 14th, 2009 will be the annual Spring Band Concert with the Concert Band, Wind Symphony, and Senior Solos. There will be an informal alumni association meeting following the concert. Further information will be sent the first week of May. Hope to see you there! (Of course, refreshments will be provided)

We, on the executive board, would personally like to welcome your interest in this group of outstanding individuals. I am sure we all can see how being in the LTHS Band Program has made us stronger individuals and has opened doors in our lives that might not have been offered. This is truly a special group that shares a commonality in music excellence.

Sincerely,
