Currently, the Lockport Township High School Band Program involves 230 students in three 10th-12th grade Concert Bands and two 9th grade Concert Bands. Considerable emphasis is placed on individual student progress and achievement. Each year multiple band members are selected for the Illinois Music Educators Association District Honor Band and Orchestra, All-State Band and Orchestra, Music For All National Honor Band, and various Chicagoland youth orchestras. Each band meets daily and performs four formal concerts along with several festivals per year. Weekly private lessons are offered to all students in the program during the day from professional musicians in the area while also working with some of the nation’s most prominent clinicians and guest conductors. Over the years, the bands have earned consistent Superior Division Ratings at the State Organization Contest, performed at both the Music Educator’s National Conference and Illinois Music Educator’s Conference, the Midwest Band & Orchestra Clinic, and has been selected for the University of Illinois Superstate Band Festival seventeen times, and the Music For All National Concert Band Festival five times.
