Currently, the Lockport Township High School Band Program involves over 200 students in four 10th-12th grade Concert Bands and a 9th grade Concert Ensemble. Considerable emphasis is placed on individual student progress and achievement. Each year multiple band members are selected for the Illinois Music Educators Association District Honor Band and Orchestra, All-State Band and Orchestra, Music For All National Honor Band, and various Chicagoland youth orchestras. Each band meets daily and performs four formal concerts along with several festivals per year. Weekly private lessons are offered to all students in the program during the day from professional musicians in the area while also working with some of the nation’s most prominent clinicians and guest conductors. Over the years, the bands have earned consistent Superior Division Ratings at the State Organization Contest, performed in multiple recognized world-class concert halls, performed at both the Music Educator’s National Conference and Illinois Music Educator’s Conference, the Midwest Band & Orchestra Clinic, the World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles International Conference, recipient of the John Philip Sousa Foundation Sudler Flag, been selected for the University of Illinois Superstate Band Festival eighteen times, and the Music For All National Concert Band Festival five times.
