The Lockport Township High School Jazz Ensembles program is an extracurricular component of the Band program in which students explore various musical styles within the jazz idiom. The Jazz Ensembles have been active in many festival events, in Illinois and nationally, with many students winning Outstanding Jazz Musician Awards. Instrumentation includes saxophones, trumpets, trombones, piano, bass, guitar, and drums. The level of the students' interest determines the structure of the jazz program. Students must be enrolled in one of the curricular bands (except for guitar and bass players). Auditions are held in mid October, and groups rehearse twice weekly. Performances include 2-3 jazz festivals, the Annual Jazz Showcase, the Annual Dinner Dance, and other various community functions.
